First off, the good:Clean looksNice wall mount mechanismStorage card is LockedDisplay is nice and BrightFairly quiet (small fans inside)The Bad:The software is just absolutely BROKEN and USELESS. The 'express' version doesn't work with Windows 7. The 'Server' and 'Client' software is horrifically outdated, setting it up is just a colossal screwup, with manual patching and instructions that are inexcusable. It installs Tomcat, MySQL, and a host of other packages that basically ensure you must have a dedicated VM or Hardware server to handle it. The large amount of GPL software used makes no offer for the source code, which is in violation of the GPL. Attempting to actually USE the software after you have tracked down a windows XP machine is an exercise in frustration. The client/server package was designed by someone who had no clue how to design a UI. This wouldn't be bad if the instructions were written clearly, or even on the same software the disc installs. When the express version of the software works, however, its not bad.The units themselves require you to use a crummy credit card remote to do EVERYTHING. Even if they are connected to the network, you cannot remote configure them. This is just plain bad. The remote is difficult to work with.For those of you who have been tasked with the miserable, and unfortunate, job of configuring your network with these units: Good Luck. I have over a DECADE of experience in IT, and 5 years with Embedded Devices. It still kicked my butt.The unit does not appear to be capable of playing any video formats as far as I can tell.
