The picture is quite bright, almost too much so if you use the custom settings, and if you use the automatic ambient setting, then it is too dark. Rick  |  3 reviewers made a similar statement
This TV has a beautiful design and the picture quality is crisp. Tomas E. Ponce  |  3 reviewers made a similar statement

2.0 out of 5 starsDCR and Ambient Light Sensor don't work correctly, otherwise good TV.January 13, 2011
    By Michael Cline

I love my toys and this is my main TV. I've experimented significantly with each of the features and functions. Overall this is a very good set at a very good price, and the picture is beautiful. However I dock 3 stars for the following reasons. First, there are some feature limitations I find very unfortunate. The set has no analog audio output and no speaker outputs, meaning without a digital amp you are stuck with tiny built-in speakers. Second, there are a number of bugs and features that do not work properly (as of firmware v2.05). First, the ambient light sensor creates a super-dim picture in any lighting environment. You can make it slightly less "super-dim" by first setting the manual backlight control to max before enabling it, but it will still be quite dim under most lighting condition. Also, the DCR function is incompatible with most digital inputs. With it enabled, the screen fades randomly in and out from completely black during movies or when attempting to use the menu functions of the BD player. With DCR disabled and the ambient light sensor disabled, the picture is great, but then you have to manually adjust the backlight whenever the light in your room changes. Vizio does not post firmware updates, but it is possible to update the firmware on the set if you complain long and loudly enough. Their tech support, while accessible, is pretty terrible. Their suggestion for any non-working feature is to just turn it off. I wonder what their solution would be for a non-working TV?I take my reviews seriously, if you find this review helpful please give it a thumbs-up.
