I bought this based on the reputation and quaility of curtis mathis back in the 60's and the 70's. Then curtis mathis was top of the line.I paid more than I would have for a 40" or larger screen at wal-mart but did this hoping the product will be as good or close to the same as of that time frame. Our first color tv was curtis mathis and we never had problems with it. So far we have had no problems and I think if we get 2-3 years out of it with no problems then its worth the price. The past 10-15 years all electronics of major brands have problems show up. The only issue that came up when I wasn't home was the dish tv tech didn't know how to set the remote to work the tv( which another review I read online mentioned that the remote needs to be set to a rca code) which I don't feel is a big deal. The color is sharp and the sound is crisp.
